McTominay stars as Napoli win historic fourth Scudetto
Scott McTominay scored 12 goals and earned MVP honors as Antonio Conte’s Napoli secured their fourth Serie A title in dominant fashion.
The former Manchester United midfielder became a central figure in Napoli’s title run, delivering consistency and big-game performances throughout the 2024–25 campaign. Alongside Stanislav Lobotka and Piotr Zieliński, McTominay anchored the midfield in Conte’s rigid 3-5-2 system.
Conte, in his first season at the helm, guided Napoli through a fierce title race involving Roma and Inter. The decisive win came in late May against Lazio, securing the Scudetto two rounds before the end of the season. It was Napoli’s first title since 2023 and Conte’s third Serie A crown with three different clubs.
McTominay’s resurgence in Italy has drawn praise from pundits across Europe, with discussions around his potential as captain material for the coming season. His tactical discipline and scoring touch made him indispensable during tight fixtures.
“He adapted immediately and gave us both control and goals from midfield.”
Napoli will look to build on this success with Champions League ambitions. Retaining McTominay and bolstering squad depth are priorities as Conte prepares for his second season in charge.
