PSG make €80M offer for Gavi as Barcelona weigh financial options
Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a formal €80 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Gavi.
According to multiple reports, the French champions are looking to lure the 21-year-old Spaniard to Ligue 1, capitalizing on Barcelona’s well-known financial difficulties amid La Liga’s strict salary regulations.
Gavi, a La Masia graduate and current Spain international, is considered untouchable by many within the club and among fans. However, Barcelona are under intense pressure to balance the books this summer. The club has already struggled to register new signings, and president Joan Laporta has acknowledged that outgoing deals may be necessary to comply with league rules.
While sources close to Barça say the club are reluctant to lose one of their brightest young stars, an €80 million injection could be decisive. Funds would not only ease registration of targets like Marcus Rashford and Nico Williams but also help with contract renewals for current players such as Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde.
“There are offers for top players, and in our situation, everything must be evaluated. Gavi is key — but we need balance.”
Barcelona have not yet formally responded to PSG’s approach. Gavi has not publicly commented, and his current contract runs until 2026 with a reported release clause exceeding €1 billion. Nonetheless, the summer window may force tough decisions — and this saga is far from over.
