Lookman hands in transfer request as Atalanta block Inter move
Ademola Lookman has formally requested to leave Atalanta after the club rejected Inter’s offer that met previously agreed terms.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international, who scored 52 goals and provided 25 assists in 118 appearances for Atalanta, is frustrated by what he describes as broken promises. Inter Milan submitted a bid in line with a reported gentleman’s agreement—but Atalanta’s board, reshuffled earlier this summer, turned it down.
Lookman is eager to take the next step in his career, with Champions League football and a title challenge on offer in Milan. His camp believes Inter’s offer was fair and that the club’s refusal violates the understanding in place since last season.
The winger enjoyed a career-best 2024/25 season and has two years left on his contract. Despite growing tension, Atalanta maintain they have not received a “satisfactory” proposal and are under no obligation to sell.
“Enough is enough. I gave everything on the pitch and expected honesty in return.”
With preseason underway, the saga continues to develop. Inter are reportedly considering an improved bid, while Lookman has been left out of Atalanta’s latest squad for their training camp in Austria.
